So is it simply the $A holding back the performance of our share-market? The ASX has severely underperformed the DJ.

Agree, still good rates, but I suspect you'll need to utilise the rate lock fee, as you wouldn't want to wait until settlement (however efficient the other bank is to discharge) given the environment of increasing fixed rates. This becomes even more problmmatic (and expensive) if you are moving...

If that is replicated more broadly, that is a good signal that not only the Aus but global economy is getting over the worst.

Locked in a range of loans over the past few days at 5.99 & one at 6% for 3 years. The more I see, and hear from various bank acquaintenances & contacts, I think, unless something catastrophic happens in Europe, we have hit the bottom, well we may have passed it a few months back. Even with...

We haven't see much change in fixed rates for the past couple of months. I am starting to believe fixed rates are as close to a bottom as we are going to see? Any news, insight (or indeed guesstimates) from the MB community on this?

There is no bank offering 3 years at 5.5%. As mentioned previously Citibank is the best at 5.75% but that is P&I only. And yes, I spoke to them this morning.

Ha back to the future JIT! 6.79%, tell 'em they're dreamin! In 2008/9, there was a special WBC 4.99% for 5 years for memory. Nice little bit of action to get a bit of if its on offer in the next 6-12 months.
