    There can be many reasons for the difference. My point was that it makes more sense to compare like for like than to compare a meaningless average.

    A problem with this is that the stats are not used correctly. Generally, what is done is that they just compare the "average" wage of all full-time male workers with full-time female workers. The better stats to use are Employee Earnings and Hours by the ABS which looks and male and female...
