Well, I had 3.5 put in my ceiling (thanks Kevin) and it seems pretty good. I'm not really up on all the R stuff, but I reckon the difference between no insulation and some insulation is pretty significant. The difference between 2.5 and 3.5? I'm not sure I would notice it. Scott
