    Cairns is heating up fast

Funnily enough my opinion all through this thread has been supported by the Herron Todd report posted by JenJen. Repeat, my opinion is supported by this report. The bottom line is that the Cairns property market is not heating up fast, there are positive signs but also issues holding the...

    Cairns is heating up fast

You know what's most satisfying? When the report that the spruiker posts backs up everything I've been saying in this thread.

    Cairns is heating up fast

"While some elements of Cairns are moving into the rising market phase, the overall market is still judged to be in the recovery process." Hardly a comment that justifies the notion that the 'Cairns market is heating up fast.' It's exactly what Jenko said.

    JenJen, I am done.

    Cairns is heating up fast

JenJen, I'm not getting into an economic debate or analysis. We happen to disagree on the current property market movements in Cairns. Several users have commented on this thread regarding vested interests. Why did you start this thread and the other similar one you have on this forum? Was it to...

    Cairns is heating up fast

No magic looking glass, just a lot of research that has no vested interest.

    Cairns is heating up fast

I ignore what the Cairns Post has to say most of the time but particularly when they are discussing property. For the past 4 years they have had articles in their paper almost on a weekly basis saying the Cairns property market is heating up. In the pocket of the REIQ? Draw your own conclusion...

    Cairns is heating up fast

There's some good buys around but it takes some very detailed research and patience. The unit market is flooded and there are a lot of suburbs you would avoid like the plague. In saying that there are bargains to be had and there are some positive signs. Slow and steady though.

    Cairns is heating up fast

As someone who lives, works and owns property in Cairns I can say without any doubt that the property market in Cairns is NOT heating up fast. It is slowly coming out of the doldrums. The unit market is flooded and body corporate costs are ludicrous. Sure there seems some spike in interest in...

    Cairns is heating up fast

I am not disputing that Cairns' property market is improving, what I am saying is that it's not what I call a hot market at the moment. The unit market is lagging because of the ridiculous insurance costs and the housing market is not breaking any records. FIFO workers are here but not in huge...

    Cairns is heating up fast

Cane paddocks? Has little to do with stagnant growth. It has everything to do with employment. The strong dollar has not been good for Cairns which takes a lot of its economic activity from the tourist dollar. The mining downturn may be good news for the area with skilled workers leaving the...

    Cairns is heating up fast

Could not agree more with the observations from Nelly. When you stop listening to those with vested interests and start looking at the cold hard facts Cairns has a long way to go. The signs are good and no doubt there is certainly an upswing happening but like most big regional centres, the...

    Cairns is heating up fast

As a Cairns local I can agree that there is some improvement in the Cairns market but there are still a few factors that for me mean Cairns is off the table as a reasonable prospect of good buying at the moment: *Exorbitant body corporate fees for units all over town *An oversupply of units...
