    My understanding is that it's against the terms of service to comment on anything (or any opinions) relating to their employment. I don't think there's any problem with having an account for purely private purposes.

    But then current public servants have been warned off social media. It may be difficult for a public servant to be able to comment publicly on anything which involves policy.
