    Carbon tax

Keep the emotion out of politics?? Surely you jest! Emotion has been driving the majority of posts in this thread, it's the source of such language as "toxic tax" and "disastrous for this country", and has forced a few (who will remain nameless) to have tanty's and leave this thread, and...

    Carbon tax

Election is a few years away, how long can you keep it up? Was it you that mentioned the futility of this thread?

    Carbon tax

So, we should stop skilled migrant and refugee intakes so we can keep polluting at one of the highest rates per capita in the world? Is that your argument?

    Carbon tax

It's a completely rational thing to say. In fact I think we should be doing it in Australia as well, for tony abbot supporters ;) No seriously, for those people that are ill-equipped (for various) reasons to raise a child responsibly. Maybe everyone gets microchipped at birth, then only...

That's on par with the moon landing and 911 conspiracy theories... nice one! Was that a uni project or something?

    Carbon tax

It's also worth trotting this one out again for those that missed it.

    Carbon tax

I don't think this is true either lizzie. The election was not won or lost over the carbon tax. And elections are never won or lost over a single election promise. You guys are clinging to this 'no mandate' and lying issue, simply because you don't agree with it. The fact is, the...

Nice thought processes there... 2 guesses and then a conclusion based on neither of them :)

    Carbon tax

There's a surprise! A poll from WA's conservative, coalition supporting newspaper (to put it very politely) finds 70% of readers don't support a labor party reform. I would have thought that's actually a good result for labor!

How can anyone take you seriously? To me, someone who continously says they're going to do something, but never does, has no credibility. Oh and check your spelling egghead.

    Carbon tax

In fact, the most likely outcome we will have a carbon tax, and no work choices. It's looking like the tax will get through parliament next year, i.e. before the next election, companies will make huge investment decisions based on it, and it will be extremely hard for any govt to roll it...

    Carbon tax

I think you missed the point... I probably should have said "if no-one else is doing anything about carbon emmisions, why should we?"
  13. G

    Carbon tax

I don't understand what drives this attitude, "if everyone else is doing it, why can't we?". If everyone was *****ting in the street, would you? But I think that you don't believe humans are effecting climate, and if that's the case, say no more, of course you'll be against the policy...

    Carbon tax

I think you forgot the inverted commas for all your Tony Abbot quotes.

    Carbon tax

And so we should, we are all massive over consumers and our standard of living is completely unsustainable. The only way to get through to people is via their hip pocket. Do you notice the majority of people concerned about this tax are concerned about how this affects them personally.

    Carbon tax

It's clear from this thread that personal greed conquers all. Which is exactly why the money needs to be redistributed to the punters, otherwise the tax would be absolute suicide. Is there a plan to gradually reduce the compo to polluters such that something is actually done about their...
