The Abolishment of the Negative Gearing Debate

Great point. 9 times out of 10 when Gold comes up (including this thread) I am simply defending my position after someone has tried to use it against me, rather than discuss the topic at hand.

The Abolishment of the Negative Gearing Debate

Would it matter is I had $10,000 or $10,000,000? Either way I would want a good return on capital. I think in the current environment keeping a low level of leverage is the best play, aiming for capital preservation or modest growth rather than leveraging to the hilt and going for big wins. A...

The Abolishment of the Negative Gearing Debate

A portion of my capital is in Gold as insurance. A portion of my capital is in profitable gold miners, some returning a dividend (investment). A portion of my capital is in Gold and Silver riding their cyclical wave higher (speculation). IMO even the cyclical holdings are less speculative than...

The Abolishment of the Negative Gearing Debate

turk, is there a need for your consistent trolling? IMO that says a lot more about your character than it does about mine. The link you posted is broken (again). Correct I don't consider a "rate cut" to be "stimulus". I was not using growth accommodating policy as a term, I was using it...

My mistake, should have scrolled further. However regardless of the reason it was implemented, it's still a long bow to draw suggesting that it's continued use has anything to do with reducing the impact of GST some 12 years after implementation. My issue is primarily with the cash in pocket...

$7,000 at 95% lend leverages to $140k (assuming the servicibility is there also). If it's such an insignificant amount and contribution to buyers then there should be no problems with it's removal.

The Abolishment of the Negative Gearing Debate

They don't need to remove NG, they simply need to completely do away with the FHOG and other FHB concessions. Without the means to leverage into properties (that they wouldn't otherwise be able to afford) FHBs will be in a position where they can't pay as much and prices will drop to accomodate...

The Abolishment of the Negative Gearing Debate

How does an observation that there are irrational property investors (which is true if we are to discuss this topic rationally) affect the ability of wategos to succeed with property?
