Sorry - I've just re-read that she is IN year 10 - not 10 yrs old. In that case - definitely go with the phone ... does she have her own laptop too?

I don't see any disappointments there - junior had 5 schools in 4 years due to work and still comes in the top 3 of her class and makes lasting friends everywhere she goes. And at 11 years old the only phone she has is a $15 jobbie from Big W that she never uses. Bought it for taking photos...
