Hi, looks good, the cabinets look much more modern. For even more modernity, consider a glass splashback?

I'll check out lexicon 1/4, thanks for the tip :) The skirting boards looks unpainted in the original pics? You painted them white? I would have left them - unpainted wood always looks good and would have saved you some work.

Hi en710, I see alot of ads on gumtree for free kitchens, but you need to dismantle them yourself. Sometimes there are bathrooms and tiles too. Even ovens, cooktops and freestanding cookers (I would never take these secondhand). Carpet is always worth doing, imho. Floating floorboards seem easy...

Whisper White is supposed to be the same tint as Antique White USA, just lighter. So in other words WW is just AW 1/2 or AW 1/4. I'm not very good with seeing tints. Can't catch the green in your WW walls. Apparently Dulux Vivid White, which is their whitest white (ceiling white), has a black...

Hi en710, nice pro-looking job for a first timer! Are you saying your whisper white paint was tinted green by the original paint underneath? I'll have another look at the pics on my computer later, can't see very well on my mob.

Hi EN710, Given your low budget you may wish to try bunnings and masters budget paints? http://www.smh.com.au/business/comment-and-analysis/masters-and-bunnings-price-war-takes-on-a-new-hue-20141017-117jan.html Disclaimer: I have never used these. Would I give it a go? Yes.

For interiors, i prefer light colours as it opens up the space. For exteriors, are dark colours preferred to hide dirt brought in by the elements? I was thinking of grey. Or do dark colours make houses look smaller as well?

try the sample pots? $7 each from bunnings. I didn't, silly me. Antique White USA has been consistently rated as one of Australia's fav colours for the past few decades. It's not bad, it's just not exactly what I was aiming for. It is nice and warm, but a bit too 'classic' looking for me. I...

    Pro-painter - Painting 101 Help?

@EN710 I recently used Antique White and find it perhaps a fraction too creamy/yellowy for my taste. I was aiming for a modern apartment look (think Meriton-style), but not sterile. So I aimed just slightly-to-the-yellow of glaring off-white, hoping to avoid a sterile look. I think I missed...

How many rooms are you painting? Will it be worth it? A single room should cost $500 or so for a pro to do it.

About the undercoat - my painter used it, and my handyman recommended that I use it, when I told him I was going to paint my own bathroom. So, I think you might want to use it as well. You might need to plaster, spackle and no-more-gap cracks etc as well. About the one-coat ceiling paint. Not...
