OT - They can always change jobs - why not draw up some marketing material and send it around to all the teachers, nurses, coppers etc you know and tell them you have a better offer where they can make twice the money with no stress.....

Don't run your own business then? Not that it is exactly the same, but for something like floorsanding when using a Water based finish (3 coats) then my overheads for a job that requires 5 visits and is about 30km away (plus 1 labourer) comes in at about $18 per sqm. Say I do a 50 sqm job...

Personally I dont install prefinished or floating floors, however $50 per sqm for installation is an industry standard. It depends a lot on which city you are in, I know Canberra is dearer than Melbourne which is dearer than Sydney. I also know that there are a lot more 'cowboys' in Sydney...
