    The Burwood median is now 800k, I don't think 1.4million is unreasonable for a large relatively up to date house in an above average part of the suburb. In a rising market there is likely to be record prices, doesn't mean the price paid was too high...

    Definately, I think all those suburbs are up 30%-50% in a year, but going back a year they had fallen hard from late 2007 prices. The Burwood house looked like a reasonable buy to me.

    That is what I thought, what surpised me though is the kids were 3-6 years old so surely they know what they are getting themselves in for in terms of space requirements? My guess is they buying due to proximity to good schools so maybe it is a choice between a unit or an apartment for them?
