the problem is it still entrenches a welfare mentality and sense of entitlement into the middle class. I have plenty of friends who are stay at home mums because they dont want to lose their benefits. so we are paying people who are quite capable of getting a job .... I would rather be paying...

the howard government also entrenched middle class welfare.... with tax rebates, baby bonuses and first home owners grants. welfare should be for people who need it..... not just a way to buy the votes of the "battlers"
