I understand what you mean in this instance Aaron. I was talking more generally for arbitrage betting, you bet on a game there there is only a winner and a loser (no draw possible). A tennis match for example.

Arbitrage betting ensures a win! There is no 'mitigating losses'! That's the whole point of arbitrage betting! There is no speculation, no placing bets at different times, no $$$ are lost!

Placing one bet is just that - a bet! Arb betting is done simultaneously. You can't have one without the other.
What you propose there is a speculative bet. might as well have a bit of fun on the gee gees!

Arbitrage betting. In this instance it hasn't worked, but if you google it there are programs that scan for 'Arbs'.
Bookies are onto it though.
