I may go with this option however is it accepted paractise with the ATO? ie I thought if you rent property out tennants must have electricity bills in their name... Is this so?
If not, it could work but may be a bit of hassle....

Can I do the 1 meter and charge the main tennant with an amount of say 20% paid to the tennant on the rear for their usage?
I could either put this in my name (landlord) or request tennant pay for it and I will organise re-imbusement....

Just curious re the utilities on an ip where it i multi unit... How do you go about splitting the bills if you onlyget 1 electricity bill? Can you charge the main tennant and apportion part of it (say 20%) to the granny flat?
