    there would also be thousands of homeless because there are no rentals, and lets face it - some people are just no going to be able to get a home loan for whatever reason. I guess they could all just live at home with mum and dad forever.

    I believe this ideaology is known as communism, which only ever works on a small scale in reality - Otherwise you end up like china ;)

    I think it is more along the lines of thought that the piece of paper / plastic we use as money only hoolds value because we BELIEVE it holds value. This has certainly proved to be the case in many country's, where only certain currencies are accepted as money, sometimes not even the money...
