    It definitely depends on the kind of support required too. I know a kid who's now in year 8 who is very intelligent but has a number of health issues which mean he needs support. Only the local public school would provide this support. 100% agree with this

    I think you're right to some degree. However there was a study a few years ago which showed that female graduates going through a graduate program in the same organisation, therefore identical jobs, were paid less. This was the case in a number of organisations. I'll see if I can find it...

    So you have influenced where they will be educated through where you live, which is not markedly different to electing to send them to private school. I'm not criticizing btw, merely an observation. So what about the people who can't relocate into a good school zone for whatever reason...

    So how do you 'control' your children and their discipline? I try to teach my child the right was to behave through example & discussing things...as much as you can with a 3yo ;) I don't aim to control him though.

    He's 3 :) He's showing signs of being a smart kid but who knows how that will pan out over the next few years, he'll start school in '16. Someone said to me once that her job as a mother was to leave as many options open to her kids for as long as possible. That has really stuck with me...

    I think the problem with this statement is that it's a sweeping one. If you look at ALL public schools and ALL private schools there may well be no advantage, after you account for socio-economic factors etc. I'm certainly not looking at just any private school. I've rejected many of them...

    Timely I have just now registered to attend a private school open day next month. I had always thought that I would rather spend money on things other than private school education - like holidays, extra curricular activities, tutoring if he needed it. I'm still leaning toward public school...
