I'm not really selling much Art stuff, and I'm not concerned either. There's not a lot of profit margin in it. The stuff that gives me the most profit is the el-cheapo kiddie stuff. Sponsorships work with the 'sports' and I have tried to get a foothold in there, with the Derby crew, buy...

Um.....no! He's an accountant, not a web designer. I'm sure he helps Lil with her stuff, but nothing too hard.

    Where to from here (Business)

Yes, skate parks are everywhere, but unlike roller skating, I really don't know a lot about skateboarding.

Hmm....I don't have this. I'm not sure where to start with this. I'm not really all that savy when it comes to this stuff.

Yes, I was thinking along those lines, but you would only have the kids that skate as a sport really wanting that stuff. Most kids get skates as just another toy. They'll use them a bit, but they're not addicted to all things skating.

Yes Lizzie, I'm thinking exactly that. Kids skates & cheaper 'recreational' skates for adults. They are the skates that are running off the shelves.

It's not that I'm unwilling. Let me try to explain a bit more. Firstly, I DID try getting some SEO done. I wasn't all that impressed with it, and I could see that I would have to continually spend big $$ to get ranked. Sure, I've got funds that I could throw at it, but I don't want to...

The other sites are all aimed solely on Roller Derby. The best selling items are skates, wheels and protection gear. They all have ties back to the roller derby community and are able to access stock from the Aussie supplier. Out of the few things I've sold from my website, it is mostly...

Actually, my competitors have heaps of sales. These are my main competitors: http://www.rollerderbygear.com.au/ http://sydneyderbyskates.com/shop/ http://derbyskates.com.au/ All these guys sell is stuff for Roller Derby. I took a different approach & I stock all kinds of skates. Like...

The problem with taking Credit Cards is that you have to set up a merchant account with the bank. The fees to do this are quite high & really not worthwhile unless there is a fair bit of sales going through. Most, if not all, of my competitors don't take Credit Cards either.

No, but I do take PayPal. You're the first person that's asked about Credit Cards.

Yeah, I've got the Facebook thing going. Not a lot happening on that front.

OK point taken, although you can't link sites to Ebay. As above. Ebay won't let you add your website and even block messages if they feel you are trying to get sales outside of them. Already on the cheapest plan. That's the thing, I don't want to throw money at it if I'm not getting any...

As many know, I kicked off my little online business some time ago. Since then, I spent a heap getting a web-site set up & I have ongoing hosting costs as well as an additional cost for my Business email. All this is the cost of doing Business & I am fine with that. I spent money on trying...
