    Pro pack is a generic term, most of the lenders have something similar. each of the big banks calls it something diferent, wealth package, breakfree, choice, premier advantage etc etc

    The banks themselves dont anticipate the fixed rates going up when the variable does. The money market does. So when I fixed 3 years ago, the reserve had just moved up, after a long time of being stable. The 3 yr fix was 6.65%, the basic varaible had just moved to 6.72. A couple of weeks...

    last time round I suspect they were more confident of their crystal balls. They took a big loss on all the fixed rates they did under 6%. I dont think they will make the same mistake this time. I will be happy to be proved wrong, but I doubt we will see a major with a 5 yr fixed rate below...
