Help please: Bankruptcy and saving my house

Lets see if we can find some middle ground again perp. :) I am not in the habit of giving people any more than they are entitled to unless they are in need. Of course I consider myself reasonable, but I think we all do? When the law allows for something to occur to do more than this is in my...

Help please: Bankruptcy and saving my house

Restitution cannot be made though in this case and so the individual has this out. If I lend you money, I know what the laws are. You have not promised to work for me for life should you not be able to pay me back? I am not lending you money in return for your second born son? It is...

Help please: Bankruptcy and saving my house

Some people would not buy there. Different people have different risk appetites and I don't think living on New Zealands south island is for everyone. However humanity would be a far weaker proposition if we never took risks. Dare I say it we may have never ventured out of Africa. Risk...

Help please: Bankruptcy and saving my house

People in Australia have recently learned you cannot insure for every concievable risk. It would also be a weight around capitalism if every start up businesses attempted to limit there risk in every way as a result of trying to avoid a life of servitude. Far better the financial risk to...

Help please: Bankruptcy and saving my house

I have got no issue with people pursuing lawfull debts. Of course the ATO should be able to recover debts owed to them and they should pursue them. This is different though to saying individuals should live a life of servitude should their debt become too much for them.

You can tell it has been a long time since we have had a recession. During them everyone expects a few people to go bankrupt. It is all part of the show. Funny that some who think that recessions are good to promote efficiency and yet when faced with the very mechanism through which waste and...

Help please: Bankruptcy and saving my house

Because of what terry says, allowing the home to be repossesed is the neatest way of destroying any hold the banks / ATO have over the properties. Otherwise they will just keep chipping away at you. A sale by them to your wife releases these bonds. A sale by you to your wife does not. This is...

Help please: Bankruptcy and saving my house

Yes I am perhaps too honest. People who say they would pay back 250k when instead they can earn up to 50k p.a. when perhaps they only earn 90k per annum are either lying or they are saints. Indeed they are not even saints. If I could choose to declare bankruptcy and donate the difference...

Help please: Bankruptcy and saving my house

EXACTLY! I cannot understand how people could condemn someone for going bankrupt. It is just one of those things that happens. The creditors made the decision to work or lend money to people (in smilyfaces case the ATO) so it really is not smiley faces problem, it is theirs. After years...
