Seems like rates will stay at record low for longer than we predict

I know Keynes and other basic stuff. No need to remind me. It's just that it's dreaming and unrealistic in the current situation. Not gonna happen anytime soon. The govt won't lift a finger. The RBA has no choice. We have squandered the spoils of the mining boom. Recession is a real...

Another BAD set of economic statistics! http://www.news.com.au/finance/business/bad-news-in-abs-capex-survey/story-e6frfkur-1227239853685 It's not looking good at all. It's a bloodbath in investment. I would not be surprised if rates are cut further in the next 12-18 months to avoid recession.

Depends on the business. If it's a real estate agency, WIN! If it's a retirees' bowling club. FAIL! If it's a cafe, depends on location. Etc etc

Seems like rates will stay at record low for longer than we predict

Actually, dropping interest rates is supposed to help reduce unemployment by increasing economic demand. Not true. The RBA's duty under the Reserve Bank Act 1959 is to contribute to the stability of the currency, full employment, and the economic prosperity and welfare of the Australian...

Seems like rates will stay at record low for longer than we predict

No!!! The RBA is 90% confident we will not have a recession in the next couple of years. It's a soft growth story: Inflation is within the comfort zone (no need to raise rates soon): Unemployment still above GFC levels:

Seems like rates will stay at record low for longer than we predict

main take aways from the latest RBA quartely Statement on Monetary Policy which formed the basis of the rate cut: - GDP growth was downgraded from their last forecast in Feb - Unemployment will remain elevated for longer than expected - Inflation was also downgraded from last forecast...
