I've been in the situation where I've sent something and NOT received the money. I chalked it up to experience and never done it again. You need to take responsibility for risking your money to a stranger when it is clear that Gumtree tells you NOT to do it.

But they can't prove fraud. All they can prove is that you went into the bank and asked to put money in someone else's account. The account was a legitimate bank account and they did as you instructed. They have no authority to take the money back out of her account The fraud was what happened...

Gumtree is not ebay - it is buyer beware. There are warnings all over Gumtree that say not to send money for goods that you can't pick up. Sorry to say but you can kiss your money good bye and be thankful it was only $200 and not the full amount...
