just wondering - with the fencing - did you have to pay for it all yourself or did you manage to get your neighbours to chip in as per dividing fence act? (i guess you knocked it down and built it again so it would count as you doing everything... )

We paid for it all ourselves, since the existing fences, although old, were not in disrepair. The dividing fences act does not really cover replacing existing fences for cosmetic reasons. There was one neighbour who did not have an existing fence, from whom we could have asked for half the costs, but did not as they were good friends of my grandparents.
