Accountant's fee of $5500

I have been using one in Chatswood for 10 years..
2 PAYE with multiple investment properties, shares, option, espp.. total $500 GST inclusive.

...I pay $550 for 3 properties...

He is a specialised property accountant with a portfolio of 40+ himself.

Why dont you give paul a chance. He is in sydney and his rates are fair. I think I know the guy in chatswood that is being talked about. Paul used to provide advice to that same accountant.

Mines in Parramatta. I'll PM the details to you.

Though as far as reputation goes. HOW seems to be the go to people.

My brother uses Paul and i met Paul in person; def knows his stuff and very competitive fair price as well. Doesn't hurt to ask if your shopping around anyway.

P.s i previously used our family accountant (old Chinese guy on pitt st) had NO IDEA what he was talking about when it came to development and complex CGT i had to tell him what to do....so i have learnt to stick with the ppl with the right knowledge, as that's what im paying for but obv at a fair price.

$5500 seems very high.

Anyone recommend a good accountant in Brisbane?

Preferably with personal property experience. Mine has moved intrastate....

Years ago a friend of my brothers firm got my business and immoveable my.whole family.across

It was something like 250 for a tax return with no income, a few shares and a few deductions, and 500 for a small business return with one ip

After I started purchasing ips and registering for gst, I was doing a bas statement and sucked at it, I had friends who gave their accountant a pile of receipts and they sorted it and charged peanuts,

I approached my accountant and he said it would be far cheaper if I did all the messy work of sorting through the receipts and giving him a total figure on spreadsheet

I did it and he proceed to charge me 880 for three bas returns when I gave him spreadsheets, and all he had to do was enter a few figures, I was livid

My mother is still using him, and she recently did a sme return with three ips and the total was $1000!!!!!

He has now gone off.on his own to do his own firm which is fine, but the old firm has recently billed us $9k for every time we called him to chat about something over three years!!!
We could.only laugh!

After we told them to go jump, they sent us a new bill with a 90% discount to $900

We told them to go.jump again, and it's been given to a debt collector, but we've also told the debt collector to go and jump too

The funny thing is that the accountancy firm is serious about it

Never again

never ever get an accountant to do bookkeeping work.
they charge a fortune!

if you cant manage to do a BAS statement yourself - get a good bookkeeper/ BAS Agent on board... most will charge you between $50-80 per hour

an accountant can charge you anywhere from $150-300 per hour!

Hello,

This prompted me to look up my accounting fees.

For the following, we paid a total of $2585 last year:

    • My PAYE, which includes one IP in my name ($660)
    • Husband's PAYE, which includes one IP in his name ($550)
    • One hybrid family trust, including three IPs. ($1100)
    • Annual review of ASIC company details (as we have a company trustee) ($275).

I've always considered those fees kind of expensive, but a necessary expense.

They are only half yours, though!

Cheers.
