Affordable Rental Housing Policy [NSW]

We have spent some time reviewing the current controls for the newly introduced SEPP for Affordable Rental Housing Policy & how it may be suitable for your premises. In completing our preliminary research and factoring what you are looking to achieve, we believe your premises is not suitable for this type of housing.

Although this control may seem desirable on the surface, there are numerous constraints & issues that would cause to be a problem during the planning & future development stages.. Should you actually obtain an approval, once the construction is completed & you have sought an occupation certificate the government will get involved in the renting of the premises and there will be a 10 year restriction as to whom & how your premises are rented. The rental amount is also limited to quite a low figure.

Just got the above from my drafter. Does that sound right?

I was asking them to design a granny flat at the back of my house.

Speak with Serge. He knows his stuff.

A good draftsman is worth their weight in gold.

A bad draftsman will cost you more money in the long term, a good one will save you money because they understand how to use the rules to their advantage.

Normally you get what you pay for, but I think Serge is an exception. :)
