Alibaba IPO

I'd love to get some stock in Alibaba (BABA) pre IPO but think it's impossible unless you've got deep pockets or know someone. Looks like I'll have to buy on the day when it lists Sept 19. Has anyone managed to secure any stock before it floats? There's some tips here but from reading the comments it looks like the author will also be buying when it opens.

Is Alibaba worth well over $20B?
I'd say no, probably not.

They only float 20bn the whole business worth north of 150bn
if the number is true and it can maintain that sort of margin and profit
hell yeah it worth that much and more

There's a lot of pressure in the takeaway food world. There's a lot of new players- every mall seems to have expanding food halls; turnover of Maccas is apparently well down.

Edit. Oh dear. I thought it really was the food outlet floating.

Alibaba is not take away kebab :)
it Chinese largest commerce site ...almost all the manufacturer who want to sell good goes via Alibaba.

They sell their good world wide via Alibaba mostly in bulk but Alibaba groups owns dozen of other business as well all generate very healthy profit.

Most small times ebayers probably buy bulk from alibaba and resell :)

Alibaba is absoluteley huuuge!

Hundreds, if not thousands of suppliers for almost any single product (think anything!) you would consider purchasing / importing.

I would hate to guess the turnover.

My wife has imported some small products, and has received dozens of quotes from suppliers, even when filtering reducing inquiries down to Gold suppliers only.
