Any ideas why??

In a smallish country town of some 15.000 people there is only one, 1 bedroom unit for sale yet there is over 200 homes for sale. To rent in this same town there is around 35 homes and again only one, 1 bedroom for rent. What could this possibly mean? Any ideas would be great. Thanks in anticipation.

Yes, as the others have said, in small country towns land is typically cheap and therefore so are houses. Older ppl can afford house and land. There would be virtually zero demand for a 1 brm unit IMO.

Now move to the Eastern Suburbs of SYD and the land component is huge. High earning professionals, o/seas students with their parents' money......completely different demographic.

It means it's a typical country town. The smaller it is, the less percentage units. Most towns below 1000 population probably wouldn't have a single unit. Towns under 400 people are probably on half or full acre blocks. Lets face it, units are purely to cram more people into a certain land area. Then to cram even more in, you go high rise.

No need for units in small bush towns, as land is cheap and plentifull..

See ya's.

I read in the millionaires exposed book from one of the authors that they believe most people wanting to live in such a small country town (less than 20000 people) are wanting to move there for the lifestyle reasons. They want the peace and serenity of house and land and it doesnt bother them if there not close to the cbd because it is not important to them. Its not the reason that they were attracted to country living.

Anyone who is very wealthy and wanting to live in a small town, wouldn't really want to live in the town. They want acreage just out of town. Preferably on a nice block with views and a creek and some pasture for the horses and just a few minutes from the news agent and shop and coffee shop.

See ya's.
