Governments are hypocrites. If they were well and truly interested in peoples welfare there would be a lot of banned stuff and so they should be.

Why are cigarettes still being sold over the counter and laced with poisiounus chemicals just so they burn longer. You really are concerned with peoples health? If yes take them off the shelf and ban the sale of cigarettes. Why don't they do this, too much money would be lost from sales tax and more people living longer so they would have to fork out more pensions.

Let's face it, the government wants you to drop dead immediately after you retire as you only cost them money after that. So to them cancer is a friend and doing them a favor.

Look the same could be said about alcohol.....

The governments are only interested in revenue and what brings in the money is here to stay no matter how bad or how many it kills per year.

If they legalized drugs so many crimals would be out of a job and not bringing ridiculous amounts of money for doing nothing. I would also imagine there would be less users with time. All of a sudden it is legal it is not the bad thing to do, so teens would lose the excitement of trying to source it.

Look if smokers were allowed to grow their own plants and smoke it there would be a 99% reduction in deaths from smoking. But the gov gets not cash so let's make this illegal.

Look another example steroids. If this stuff was legalized at least people who use it would have access to clean and sterile products. If someone wants to use it they will, just because it is illegal never stopped anyone. So by legalizing steroids users would be better off than from having to buy from Frank who makes the stuff in his bathtub under filthy conditions. Steroids are not illegal in all countries and these countries have no issues with people dropping dead from god quality clean products. Media likes to play up how dangerous they are and kills people and when in fact this is not true. All it takes is a little research and common sense.

If someone wants to take drugs and overdose it is their choice their life. You can't stop a person from running out under a train or jumping off a bridge.

If drugs were legalized users would at least have access to clean stuff and not buy dodgy stuff from god knows who which in turn might save people from dying from bad made stuff.

It would be cheaper and less crimes committed (thefts robberies) to fuel the addiction.

Having said all that I understand there are flip sides to each of these cases.

But as a parent ask yourself this

Would you rather your child buy stuff from a pharmacy or from some guy called Joe who makes his money in the underworld?

I know the answer is neither, but unfortunately if they want to do something they will and you can't be there 100% of the time to stop it.

Sorry for the rant got a bit carried away.

for them to carry drugs out, someone must've imported them in and sold it to them. now i somehow doubt that this someone only sells drugs to aussies and refuses service to locals

No they must not have. They brought them in and recruited other people to do so, that's why they got what they got. They were in transit. And your right, how do we know if they weren't planning on selling some to locals or anybody else in Thailand? or done so in past drug runs, it wasn't the first time.

EXCLUSIVE: In the clearest sign yet that the Boycott Bali social media campaign is a major fail, new travel booking data has revealed a big increase in numbers heading to the Indonesian island since the executions of Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran.

With the help of more direct flights to Bali, bookings from Australian holiday-makers for the winter months climbed 16 per cent on the same period last year. The increase, recorded by travel search engine skyscanner, could mean an additional 48,000 Australians holiday in Bali between June and August this year.

I've been bangin on for ages about this.

We've lost the war on drugs - according to the authorities.

Folks will still try to use drugs whether they are legal or not.

Time to think laterally and address how to manage it so folks don't die, and crime is not committed, and we can save millions in taxpayer funds to fight it.

Govt controlled, free, legal and safe drugs - available in properly managed and controlled user stations, with health care professionals and counselors (to help them quit) - will save countless lives and stop many millions in crime and injuries and stress on the health system.

The Govt. might even make a few bucks off of it.
Marijuana is making Colorado so much money the state may have to give some of its $50 million windfall to taxpayers

For sure.

Well, for one thing, it will create jobs - those healthcare workers etc associated with the clinics, delivery vans for supplies (van drivers), cleaners...the list would be extensive.

These folks will then pay taxes and then spend money back into the economy.

Plus, the saving to the community in healthcare costs and victims of crime...

Many of these current addicts may even get back on the rails and get back into contributing to the community through returning to work (not all addicts are out of work of course).

The benefits are enormous.

Of course; no-one condones taking drugs (except druggies), but yeah; time to rethink, imo.

doesnt surprise me at all either ,morally id like to boycott too but its such a great place for an affordable get away

Just returned from my first trip to Bali on Friday! It is a great place to visit, will definitely be back one day, no point punishing the Balinese for the mistakes of their government and our citizens.
