Bathroom not council approved

Hi have had an offer accepted on a property in WA.
Old house with extension to one side including a toilet.
Plus they have divided an old laundry and put in a new bath/toilet in the old section.

Had structural building inspection and he noted that the toilet didn't have appropriate drainage.

I had enquired verbally at the council last week and they said you didn;t need council approval for a bathroom unless there were new walls or something?? (other extensions approved)

So question, do these need council apprpoval?
If so, how do i deal with this in terms of settlement...do i ask for a discount? or ask them to get the approvals? Probably not enough time

toilet didn't have appropriate drainage.

I'd be more worried about getting that fixed over the Council approval  That said, I don't think you do need approval if there are no structural works and they simply added a bath and toilet to and existing laundry room. Maybe to play it safe contact a private building surveyor and ask them the question?
