Bathroom respray - Improvement or repair?

Hi there,

We are thinking of doing a freshen up of the bathroom in our IP. The tiles and bath are in good condition, but are a pretty unattractive shade of green. We are considering getting the wall tiles and bathtub professionally re sprayed / resurfaced.

Would this be considered a repair or an improvement?

Thank you

The fact that the bath and tiles are already in good condition, this would be considered an improvement based on you are just changing the color scheme.

As Dan said, from a tax perspective it's an improvement.

From most other perspectives, painting tiles is rarely an improvement. But looking on the bright side, when you have to reprint them in two years time, that second paint job would be a repair.

Thank you :)

Would I be correct in assuming that if we have to repair any of the tiles (eg they are cracked or have fixtures screwed into them) that part of the work would be considered a repair whereas the respray would be an improvement?
