Blue Chip in Brisbane

Hi Folks

After a freestanding house in Brisbane, which I don't know that well.

What are considered the blue-chip areas - say equivalent to Sydney's North Shore, Northern Beaches, Eastern Suburbs etc.

And what would be considered solid middle class areas, rather than glamour suburbs - say equivalent of Sydney's Hills District or Sutherland Shire?

Happy New Year house hunting:)

Thanks
James

what for IP or live?

bulimba and hawthorn , trendy area, coffee strip. renovated QLDers and funky townhouses

newfarm and teneriffe. very expensive. woolshed conversions. renovated QLDs

Westend thriving alternative scene getting gentrified out sadly. the old workers cottages are polished up on tiny blocks but you cant beat the position.

Ascot and wilston hills. thats were the serious money is. its about as blue as you can get.

stand alone houses with land, try brookfield castledine,

all of them have low yields, no dramatic price fluctuations (that includes up as well as down)
the investment suburbs are the aspirational suburbs next to these.

Thanks for the reply. It is for an IP for long-term ownership.

Would prefer a character-style Queenslander.

I figure this year will be a good time to enter this market.

In addition to what others have said Hamilton & now Newstead are "blue chip".

In the west, Chelmer, Graceville, Tennyson.

You could probably add Indooroopilly and St Lucia.

I prefer south eastern suburbs so stay away from there! :D:D

Cheers

Wow surprised no one has mentioned Ascot, Clayfield and Hamilton - beautiful area - old queenslanders - large tree lined streets and 6 min to the city - oh yeh you need a few mil to enter the market there
