At the risk of going completely against the tide, is it true that brokers get paid different commissions from the companies that they recommend. If this is incorrect, please excuse my inexperience.

Hi Michael

And the reality is yes,...... BUT

Those brokers that practice comms disclosure before application get around this problem easily by showing the client who pays what.

Incidentally the major lenders all pay upfront comms within 10 % of each other. There are some lenders that pay up to THREE times the normal comms. Mostly that is reflected in the price of the product.

Legislation to provide for comms disclosure before application is on its way.

Rolf

Rolf
Please do not take offence.
I should not have been so short with my answer, but like everything else there are good and bad broker and as far as I can see, Rolf, you are one of the best.
This week I came across someone who had been recommended to a particular bank through their broker and in my humble opinion that particular decision was commission driven.
Rolf keep up the good work.
