From Reiwa - Budget threat to First Home Buyers

I hope stamp duty concession remains in place for fhb! I'm selling ATM.

Budget Threat to First Home Buyers

PREMIER COLIN BARNETT has made it clear that the state budget due in May will need to make cuts and raise revenue.

REIWA is very concerned that this might include raising the cost of stamp duty for all people buying a property as well as getting rid of the stamp duty concession for first home buyers.

Currently, stamp duty on a median priced home is $20,000.

First home buyers pay no stamp duty for purchases under $500,000, but that will change if the tax exemption is adjusted or abolished.

REIWA calls on the state government to maintain current policy settings and not to disrupt the housing market with expensive changes.

Please Mr Barnett, don?t force first home buyers to pay stamp duty or push up the rate of stamp duty for all buyers.

The cost of living is already very high in WA and we need to keep housing as affordable as possible.

YOU CAN HELP!

Members of the public who might share these concerns are encouraged to contact their local MP to urge them not to increase stamp duty or to abolish the first home buyers? tax concession.
