Building Costs - Perth

Need to know wha the spec is for 1200 sqm, I worked out around 1300 sqm for my last build in Perth and that was high spec.
Yeah, prob pretty average spec.

what's this for, single level project home?

what does this mean?

where did you hear him... a presentation or on the radio or something?

-I think so. Had a look on websites radio 720am and Hegney's site and couldn't find a recording of it. My very vague notes have 280 - 300sqm written also.

-I think he was saying that's the price difference + - a bedroom. I must have 'moving house' brain.

-He's on 720 at 9.30am every Thursday.

Building Costs Perth

Hi All

As per my post on another thread in this forum yesterday, there is a lot of good information to be found on the Net from quantity surveyors as a guide to global per sq m building costs. You might check this link: http://www.bmtqs.com.au/construction-cost-table

The site also has a calculator which will take into account variables like your Perth location. These estimates should include plant like lifts but you can also readily research these costs on the Net - typically cost per car and then amount per floor.

There are other similar good sites if you wish to check further. Another you might like to check out - http://www.lmigroup.com/RiskCoach/Calculators/BuildingCalculator.aspx?access=adroit This also has a useful guide to estimating construction times for various sizes of project.

Hope this helps - certainly might be useful for you Perthguy.

Just have to add once again that building costs in Indonesia to the same standard are currently about 35% of those in Oz :)

It certainly is thank you. I am close to finalising my plans and will ask for a cost estimate at that point. It will be useful to have the calculators as a guide for sure.

Something interesting in that "Building Cost Calculator / Indicative Guide" is that for the same project in Perth and Melbourne, the Melbourne project is more expensive to build. I always assumed that Melbourne was cheaper to build.

Yes - more than 15 years since I worked in Perth but have recently heard many reports that costs there have risen greatly. However, suspect Sydney still the most expensive (apart perhaps from Darwin and some remote areas) with Melbourne, as I understand it, generally on a par with Sydney.

Big difference also in sq m estimates for apartment blocks or small lot two-storey townhouses as opposed to regular suburban single storey houses. Ironically the larger the houses the lower the typical cost per sq m. Some of the estimates in this thread apply to regular housing.

In our experience the level of finish and fit-out is also a big variable - that last 10% to 15% of a project seems to gobble up the cash and typically requires a huge effort.
