Buying alone, GF rents...

Guys, I want to buy my home. My GF will live with me pay me rent.

So I pay around $1900 in repayments a month and she pays $100 in rent every week.

If things go sour, can she claim half of my house even though she is only GF and only paying rent? I think she can...

What is a good way to protect my property? I was told to put the house under my parent's name?

I hate to sound like this but hey some women turn from angels into money hungry grabbing... when the relationship goes bust.

We have lived together (renting) for over 12 months in Sydney.

Any advice?

Definately a defacto relationship. Not much you can do to avoid it to tell the truth. Unless you put it under a Trust/Family members name, and you rent to them as $mortgage-$400/month.

Give the g/f her own bedroom in the house.
Draw up a lease stating her rent, and what duties (housework)she is responsible for in exchange for complete use of the house.Never share purchases, bank accounts, bill accounts etc.Maybe that will help?

I think unless your married no one should be entitiled to the benefits of marriage. It is the same in our country.
However, the government didn't ask me.
