My brother is selling a property in Gowrie, the 1st agent quoted a commission
of 2&3/4% to market value then 10% above market value which seems excessive to me.

What are the normal commission rates and could anybody recommend a good
REA?

Sorry, it is a very specific question about a specific area.

I'd talk to several REAs in the area, to get a suggested price as well as commission.

And I'm sorry, I haven't sold a house in the ACT.

yep like geoff says, no idea! Think you need to speak to a few agents and get a feel for the area.

We are currently selling our house and I have talked to a heap of agents before I made a choice.

I have found that the best deal you'll get is around 2% - and that's with a "blue chip" agent not a small company, and includes most marketing.

The higher end I found some agents charging 3.5% + $1500 marketing which is ridiculous!

i got 1.5% and gst but they will cut the deal depending in the val of the home , sold last year at .9% and the year before at 3.75%, good luck. he can negotiate, but a bit slow down here at the moment.
