Cashing in your chips - which is the best strategy?

So what would you do?

My current mindset would say that I would probably opt for strategy 2 with a 3-500k buffer sitting in an offset. However as I am still much closer to the beginning of my investment journey I concede that my approach would be different at the other end. I may still have dependant children for example.

.... and I think you may learn more along the way, you are making assumptions on what you know today, tomorrow will be a different story...
