Cigarette Butt/burn on Carpet

From: Manny B

Folks,

on one of my newly built units (1.5yrs old) the tenants just vacated & the lounge & 1 of the bedrooms have a small cigarette burn on the carpet (smaller than a 5cent piece), the managing agent said to me that it isn't worth pursuing (she thinks it is normal wear & tear and thinks if gets to the tribunal nothing will be done), what do you think?

Is it repairable? or does it all need to be replaced?

Thanx in advance,

Manny.

Ignore it, if it bothers you that much, get a small pair of scissors and snip the burnt fibres off, a tribunal will will want to fine you the maximum they can for wasting their time on such a trivial matter.

BTW do you have smoke detectors?

Manny,

Absolutely it is worth pursuing, and absolutely it can be repaired =invisably. I've done this many times.

If you're in Sydney, let me know and I'll forward details of the guy who =does it.

Kind regards

Thanx for your replies... I wasn't too worried about it & I think I will do the scissors trick after all as suggested by TW (I just wanted to see what everyone else has done on similar matters)...

TW: as it was a new unit, I have electric smoke alarms in the place (compulsory to get occupancy certificate), but the tenants had unplugged them (basically hanging from the ceilings), so I just plugged them back in... (silly buggers)

Cheers,

Manny.
