Code of ethics

I have a number of questions to the community.

Does the Forum have its own Code of Ethics? If somebody posts a rude message, would moderators be allowed to delete it? Do we accept SMS-type postings (all lower case, phoenetic spelling, etc)?

Say cheese ,

Registration to this forum is free! We do insist that you abide by the rules and policies detailed below as well as the posting rules and guidelines specified in the forums. If you came to this site directly from a search engine or other website link, you should read more information about this forum at http://www.somersoft.com.au/forum.htm

Although the administrators and moderators of Property Investors Forum will attempt to keep all objectionable messages off this forum, it is impossible for us to review all messages. All messages express the views of the author, and neither Somersoft (owners of Property Investors Forum), or Jelsoft Enterprises Limited (developers of vBulletin) will be held responsible for the content of any message.

Somersoft does not recommend or endorse any specific investments or business opportunities discussed by participants in the forum. Nor do we support the creation of SPAM lists and you are always free to "opt out" of messages we mail out. We cannot stop all outside SPAM-ers from getting your information if it is made publicly available in your posts, or otherwise. But we can assure you that we do not endorse any "third party emails", nor do we reveal our Community member's details to any outside parties.

By clicking the Agree button, you warrant that you will not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, sexually-orientated, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violative of any laws.

The owners of Property Investors Forum have the right to remove, edit, move or close any thread for any reason.

If you agree to the terms, please press the Agree button at the end of the page.

There is also extra information about policy posted by Ian on the Somersoft website at http://www.somersoft.com.au/forum.htm

Yes, we will be deleting messages that violate these rules, no we haven't yet explicitly covered SMS style posts like we occasionally got in the old forums. We are still in the process of fine tuning some of our documentation. I'll discuss it with the other admin people and see if we can come up with some more guidelines.

Personally, while all lower case is not ideal, it is not really that much of a problem from a readability point of view, unlike all upper case posts. Phonetic spelling, while annoying, would only be a problem if it is not actually obvious what is trying to be said. One thing we do insist on is communication that the whole community can read (or include a translation) :)

If you see a post which you think is a problem, don't forget that there is the "Report this post to a moderator" link on every post - click on that and you will be taken to a webpage which allows you to make some comments which will be automatically sent to the moderators of that forum.

should we have a poll as well SIM

Jerry,

By clicking on the 'accept' button when signing up, you are legally agreeing to the terms and conditions set out by the owners of the forum - regardless of if you've read the document or not.

As to the content of the terms and conditions, it is the perogative of the owners of the forum as to what these are, not the users. If you don't agree with the terms and conditions, then don't use the forum.

Let's look at this by using a simple anaology.

If you were renting out your property and the tenant just signed the paperwork as to agreement of the terms without reading them, would you let them off the hook if they trashed the place?

Somehow, I think you would be using any means to shove the agreement back in their face to rectify the situation. That also means legal system as well.

So to reitterate what PT Bear said, you acknowledged that you agree with the terms and conditions, whether you read them or not. End of story.
