Coffee Machines

Obviously it depends on how seriously you take your coffee.

Traditionally I'm a non Coffee drinker and for me Nespresso is really nice , but obviously doesn't cut the mustard for some ...

Music on the other hand .... CD's are ok , MP3 passable if I I'm depserate , but FLAC is my preferred medium , but I can hear the difference .

Maybe my taste buds got missed out and all the processing power went to my ears .... :D

Your thoughts on vinyl? (I'm referring to stuff that has been recorded in analogue format and pressed to LP, not digital recordings)

Another vote for Jura machine ... Bought mine on eBay for half price and only one month old (receipts supplied) ..... It's been brilliant and makes better coffee than many cafe's. I buy the beans fresh from coffee roasters.

Some of the you beaut coffee machines are more needy than a wife ;)

Clean me, Rinse me, Descale me, Fill me up, Empty me, Add Water, Mow the Lawn (oops, not that last one)

I like the coffee pods

+1 on the needy machines!

We just got rid of our super dooper coffee machine because it was soooo needy!

We replaced it with a Nespresso Lattissimi as it had the easiest milk heater/frother in my opinion. You put milk in it and what milk isn't used is still cold and you can put the container into the fridge for next time

We got ours with a good cash back special. Nespresso have them quite often

I buy capsules for it online from http://www.coffeecapsuledelights.com/

Anyone have experience with the Nescafe Dolce Gusto? I like the fact that it has a lot more variety in terms of the available pods.

If you want to try out a pod machine the Woolworth Caffitaly one is on amazing special $59 instead of $127

http://www2.woolworthsonline.com.au/Shop/SearchProducts?search=S20#url=/

The Caffitaly pods are the same as the Aldi pods I believe.
No they're not. Thought I'd jump in there in case someone thinks to try this on their Caffitaly machine at home. One of the pods, not sure which one, has an internal screen layer the other doesn't, so while the Aldi will fit in your Caffitaly system, it won't work. You'll end up with exploded grinds all through your coffee and hard to clean out of the machine.

I still live in a caravan as I finish my new home build so am using the Caffitaly system for now. It was a present from my parents and is a big step up from instant. Can't wait to get the house finished so I can ditch the pods and get back to my own barrista machine.

Just pointing out... :)

Cheers,
Michael

I have an automated Delonghi machine that grinds the beans to make the espresso. It's a good compromise between the commercial machines and your capsule which I find a bit too bland for my tastes.

Exactly.

We've been coffee afficiando's for the past 56 years, well before it became popular in western cultures.

At $ 17.99 for a 3kg tin occasionally on special, the International Roast is the cr?me de la cr?me.

A 35c spoon has been the preferred utensil for the past 47 years for mixing that smooth blend.

At 3.4c per delicious cup, it's an expensive indulgence no doubt, but one we are willing to continue to make sacrifices for.

Our tastes are super refined.....we won't compromise on any of these commercial machines....they just don't cut the mustard.

International Roast is a crime de la crime.

We had an efficiency expert come to a work-site many moons ago and post his audit we wound up with tins of black and gold coffee, suffice to say that "Viva la revolucion" they didn't last the day and we went back to blend 43 (blend 86 if you were a two spoonfull fella).

Nowadays it's a coffee pod at home to start the day (50-70c is better than $4-5 at a drive through).

And the below :D

I went from an Italian machine (Rancilio Silva) to pods as I got frustrated with the inconsistency of taste.

The pods just don't have the same taste however if you are conveniance hands down Nespresso is the way to go.

I have now settled on a Breville Barista (http://www.breville.com.au/the-barista-expresstm.html) and LOVE IT.

It has all the essentials to make consistent espresso's, latte's, etc... every time.

Myer has it on special for $689.

My 2 cents worth ...

I have a Rancilo Silvia at home as well and taught myself how to make espresso on the net.

Do a pretty good job if I do say so myself, the secret is freshly roasted quality beans.

Unfortunately I work away from home for two weeks at a time and we only have Blend 43 so I bought a Delonghi U and buy the Coles Finest Sumatran pods which suit Nespresso machines.

They work out at .40c a pod and taste just as good as the Nespresso if you ask me.

Anyone looking at cutting the cost of Nespresso pods back should give them a try, also handy you can just pop into Coles and pick them up.

Still prefer my Rancilo at home thou.

That's also "black and gold" albeit it in a jar :D

If you like your coffee with fresh bean and enjoy the arts then there is no substitute for a manual machine ..as in the one similar to the cafe
where you grind, brew and frost your own milk.

I have one of these

This machine got many thumb up from coffee snoob

Didnt see Dave message he mentioned bes920 as well

+1

Pod machines are just well marketed. The coffee is rubbish, it's still better than instant but not enough to justify the expense. Better off with a plunger, you can at least grind your own fresh beans.

Looking at replacing the super dooper coffee machine as too needy and we just don't use it, we have been drinking instant for years but over all the work.
Time to get with something that looks after itself Nespresso machine this week.
Like to buy the capsules on line too, what's your favourite?
What about others .......favourites??
