Concrete path around house, Crace , ACT

I am building a investment property 4 bedder house in crace ACT. Builder is about to complete the work. Once the builder is done with the work I will need to get someone to do the driveway. And also concrete path around the house.

Question I have is is this really necessary to have concrete path around the house. Does this really play any role protecting the house. It is a single story house and built on waffle slab. If I can getaway not doing the concrete path then it will give me significant amount of saving.

i wouldnt bother...i would do something like this, would not cost much and would look tidy
could always get fancier with garden on one or both sides like this
