Congratulations to Somersoft

Hi all

Just thought I would like to "CONGRATULATE" the whole somersoft community for making it a welcoming forum to discuss property investments. I have been a member for just over a year now and have made just over 200 posts so I don't consider myself a troll maker as such.

A couple of days ago I decided to join a forum that discusses a lot about shares and was attacked after making my very first post. I was caught off guard by this personal attack. Feel free to view it here:

My username is the same "alicudi" as I wasn't trying to hide from anyone, I was just hoping to join a good forum to discuss all things about shares but seems I will stick with this forum which specialises in property but at least I won't be attacked should I mention something about a publicly listed company.

Regards,

Many stockmarket forum managers tend to have 'attitude' and ban people willy nilly, especially if they feel their investments are being bagged.

To be fair you were picked on by 1 poster, and I see two have come to your defence....you can expect the same at SS, there are strong characters on both forums with strong opinions :)

Agree with Erko here.

I've never seen that guy post. I wouldn't worry about him tbh.

Stick around there, some really great guys with solid knowledge and happy to share, like many on here.

Yep, got it all at ASF, techies, Elliott wavers, fundies, every kind of trading technique, buy and hold accumulators...the lot. I really like DeepState's work personally.

But do any of these guys make serious money?

Tech/A is a real gentleman, no doubt about it. I encountered him online in the late 90s.

But, 15 plus years later, it would appear he is still plodding along (as I do) tinkering with metastock formulae.....surely this is evidence enough that technical analysis is, for the most part, useless?

Damn, DeepState was who I missed on my list. Recently changed his username from RetiredYoung which throws me off.

Read up on all those blokes and you will be well on your way.

Personally, I don't know the guys in question but I don't beleive tech analysis has much value, long term with any sizeable account. Particularly trading in taxable accounts kills it even more. Perhaps behaviorial finance has some value for entry points in long term positions. I welcome everyone to come to their own view on that, do whatever works for you.
