Cop outsmarts bank

I remember reading this article 2 years ago and thinking if it happened in a nanny state like Oz the guy would be jailed for fraud and obtaining financial advantage by deception.

I thought you just had to initial or sign any changes that you make to a contract. So as long as you do this, I can't see a problem. I've crossed out things on all sorts of contracts and initialed it.
 
Don't see anything wrong or unlawful here. If the deception was by the vendor we'd simply be told buyer beware.

It's a perfectly legitimate contract, deceptive yes but I couldn't see the bank having a leg to stand on when it comes to deceptive fine print!
