Cost of bathroom reno

Hi all,

Just beginning to dip my toe in the water with my first reno of an IP. However, not being a handyman, I need to find other people to do all the work for me! I'm currently sourcing quotes to replace the bathroom (which currently looks like this) however my budget is only $8k and I'm having trouble finding someone who can accommodate this.

So for a quick bathroom update (I'm thinking new tiles and new shower, and ideally a new vanity too), does $8k seem too small? I've been contacting companies that specialise in bathroom replacements but in many cases they seem to focus on high-end fancy bathrooms and I don't need anything that upmarket. Are there any other options for getting a bathroom redone, for someone with no experience?

Thanks for any suggestions!

8k seems plenty. Not sure about labour, but for 'Bunnings Quality' stuff, it should be less then 2k for what you mentioned. From memory, shower screen was about $900, vanity $200+, and tiles start around $20 per sqm. (Prices from memory when i worked there a few years ago - take with a pinch of salt)

Surely there wouldn't be 6k labour to change that stuff - if there is, i'll come do it for 6k ;)

$8k for someone to supply and fit a new bathroom is probably reasonable.

However, if you were to source the materials yourself and prep the area (rip out old tiles, etc) you should be able to get away with paying much less.

Cheers

Jamie
