Costing up a Renovation

Hi there,

I am in a preliminary stage of renovation.

Can someone help me out with realistic "planning" cost for renovations. Lets work on the "middle of the road" quality such as purchases from standard national retailers.

The renovation will be in Northern Beaches, Sydney. I have no idea of Sydney renovation pricing.

1. Cost per m of Balustrade installed. Lets say semi-frameless (approx 80m worth).
2. Cost per sliding door to balconies. Standard width and height.
3. Cost per set of bifold doors. Say 5m in length, standard height.
4. Flooring - Tiles (interior and exterior).
a. Materials
b. Labour allowance
5. Budget needed for standard size good quality kitchen (No Appliances).
6. Budget needed for each standard size toilet/shower.
7. Cost of gyprocking ceiling per m2?

Thanks for your help! At least this way i can have a rough idea of the costs involved in order to set expectations before seeking the trade.

Estimating the cost of your renovation really depends on what you want to achieve. Are you renovating to increase your sale price? Are you renovating to increase your rental return? Or are you renovating your own home to your own taste?
Seeking three quotes will give you a good idea of realistic costs. If the quotes are too high, then start looking at ways to save costs, such as gumtree, eBay, wholesalers, salvage yards, etc.
