Is there such a tool to calculate what sort of limit you are likely to get when applying for a credit card? I haven't found anything (

I want to check first in order to avoid any negative mark against my name if my application fails...

Yes, they check. For any credit application, you simply check the T&C's to see whether they do.

The credit report will say something like this -

Credit Provider: Your Bank
Date of Listing: xx/xx/xxxx
Application Details: Enquiry made in reference to to an application for continuing credit account where you applied as the Principal for an unspecified amount.
