Cyclone Ita

We're having a baby cyclone in North Queensland, so Queensland, get ready for the rain...
In Cairns it sounded like a train going through the back yard. It's gone past Cairns now and heading for Townsville. I'm expecting to sleep through it, to the sound of rain bucketing down... and frogs of course! ;-)

Due to rainfall, some local creeks are high, leading to certain roads being cut off, but AFAIK no houses have had water through them.

Appears it will still be a Category 1 when it passes Mackay tomorrow around 3am. After it passes here it will probably go out to see a bit deeper and who knows - might intensify again.

No train here, it's been very quiet the whole time, just a few gusts here and there.

Where in Cairns are you?

Report came from Trinity Beach on Earle Hill, so lots of trees. I'm in Townsville where it's passing through now. We're actually in the eye right now - it's as still as anything, but just 30 minutes ago it was too windy for my poor old banana tree!:-(
