Deciding where to buy

How I decide where to invest is I look at the value of the suburb/area where I'm considering investing in and compare it to other near by suburbs/areas.

For example I consider Frankston to be undervalued as it seems one can get a place there cheaper than Dandenong. I believe Frankston proximity to the beach, it should be higher value than Dandenong.

Do people agree with my first paragraph?
I agree in principle, but value is very subjective. Frankston still has a fairly poor reputation, as Dandenong did about 10 yrs ago. What about distance/travel time to the city?

This is a good discussion on weighting different amenities.

BTW, I still don't have an answer for myself in how to decide on specific areas, etc! :p
