We are in a cul-de-sac.

We know all know our neighbor's names.

All good folks, but everyone mostly keeps to themselves; minimal socialising.

I think its Brian,i heard his wife yelling at him!!
The neighbors over our back fence (not in the cul-de-sac) are older Maltese (I think) couple...there have been loads of times where the husband can be heard screaming and yelling at her - I often wonder if the cops and the news crews will be on their doorstep one day - "the spouse kills the spouse with a knife" type story...

yep. being the strata manager of a small complex certainly helps.

finished a new build ip late last year. had been chatting with the neighbours for awhile so gave them a tour. nice people

At most places we've lived, we didn't know the neighbours. We've been at our current place for 18 months and we already know our neighbors up to 2 or 3 houses down and across the road. Most have lived there forever and were keen to find out who their new neighbours were. Great neighborhood watch system even tho sometimes it can get a bit stalker-ish when the old biddy across the road asks you why your mum didnt visit last Friday.

LOL. We know everybody, do get together at times, but nobody is "watching" like that.

We've got Rosie on the left hand side, who I avoid as she talks, and talks and talks. Then Jodie & Lewis on the right. Across the road we have Single Mum & grown son, on her left is 'young couple with dog', and on her right is 'Old Burt", who is 96, lives by himself, still drives & walks for an hour every day. He's amazing.

Back when we were living in Wollongong we had an elderly gent who lived across the road, and all day he would sit on the veranda & just watch the traffic & people walking up & down the street. He knew the going's on at all the houses in the area.

We know our direct neighbours names and a couple of others in the street but we don't know their kids names and wouldn't necessarily know them if we met them in a different environment. We don't have street parties and keep mostly to ourselves unless we need some loan documents witnesssed in which case we pop next door :D

Before we moved we knew our neighbours and s secretly adopted them as our parents and daughters grand parents! They were the best! Across the road was Carlos who must have been some sort of ocd, which meant we looked at a manicured yard plus he was security, some drunken idiots messed with his yard, we knew who it was. He said where I'm from this ends with someone being killed, he wasnt happy that day!

We have lived in our house since 1986 and at the moment only know one neighbour.
Interestingly I know most of the neighbours of my investment properties via strata meetings.

Personally I have resided in the same town now for over 50yrs, and my wife and I in the same home for coming on 30yrs, so yes, we know most people in our small community. (Approx. 750).
Having been the local butcher and my wife a local High School teacher has allowed us to have great interaction with what we consider our extended family.
3 Children raised here also helped.

I've got pretty awesome neighbours - there are three close by that I have pretty regular catch ups with. Even write their loans :)

Cheers

Jamie

Do you know your neighbours names"?

Hi SS's

I feel incredibly privileged to have had such amazing neighbours for the 24 years that we have been neighbours at Gordon Park. Our kids grew up together, we have occasional street parties, don't over step boundaries in terms of having nosy neighbours or visiting constantly; and now that my partner and I had a late life little one our neighbour across the road who was missing her kids after they moved out of home is now her nanny (yep one boundary that has broadened). We may be rather unique being only 5.5 km from CBD and my neighbours across the road and on either side of us living next door for 24 years now:D

Sounds like a good place too live, are the Steins into home brew..

Not really, They don't touch the stuff from what I know. A vistor of mine once threw some empties into his yard one night.

The next morning they came hurtling back and smashed onto my pavement. I ran outside and threatened to sue him. He just laughed, yelled out his name and told me to make sure I spell it correctly.

I then started calling him big nose but had to stop because he was gonna jump the fence and belt me. We avoid each other where possible.
