Does anyone else have a kindle?

Hi Strannik, yes, you can get a free programme (Calibre) that converts most file types to .mobi format which is what the kindle reads - also free books are available on the internet - many sites specialise in them - these books are out of license and are free. Any PDF or word document can be converted. Other ebook readers? Where are they?

You can also download kindle for PC's (laptops)which operates the same - some people have a netbook and this becomes their kindle. And I also have kindle on the iphone now too. With some wangling I might add! So, you can quite easily make your computer into a kindle now! Netbooks are ideal for this!

I think I'm liking the sony e-reader. I'm just finding shocking that some e-books are more expensive that a paper book. Can't find a reason why and this will make me hold buying a reader. we'll see...

Well, it is very easy to load books on to - acts like an external drive. Perhaps check calibre here:

http://calibre-ebook.com/

At the moment calibre has full support for the SONY PRS 300/500/505/600/700, Cybook Gen 3/Opus, Amazon Kindle 1/2/DX, Netronix EB600, Ectaco Jetbook, BeBook/BeBook Mini, Irex Illiad/DR1000, Foxit eSlick, PocketBook 360, Android phones and the iPhone. In addition, using the Save to disk function you can use it with any ebook reader that exports itself as a USB disk.
