East Perth Apartment may fetch $25m

East Perth could become home to the most expensive apartment in Australia, with negotiations under way for a penthouse valued at more than $25 million.

The 1900sqm riverfront home in the luxury Mardalup complex is also believed to be the biggest apartment in the country.

The two-level apartment, its balconies and its 240sqm eight-car garage are the combined size of about seven average WA homes.

Owned by publicity-shy businessman Ian Johnson and his wife, the penthouse is not officially on the market.

But Realestate 88 agent Brent Compton said genuine negotiations were under way with interested buyers for a price between $25 million and $30 million.

Chris Ellison buys two Mosman Park properties for $12 million next to his $57m Saunders St home

THE owners of Australia?s most expensive private residence have splashed out almost $12 million more buying two neighbouring Mosman Park properties on the ?street of dreams?.

Mining magnate Chris Ellison bought iron ore heiress Angela Bennett?s mansion on Saunders St for an Australian record price of $57.5 million in 2009.

Ms Bennett was also listed as the owner of one of the two homes snapped up by Mr Ellison?s wife, Tia, for $6.625 million in May this year.
Ms Ellison then went on to purchase a second neighbouring home, which also has breathtaking river views. She secured the property for $5 million in August.

Mack Hall Real Estate director Peter Burns, who sold Ms Ellison the $5 million property, said Saunders St was ?definitely? Perth?s most expensive street.
?I think the fact it is home to Australia?s most expensive home has driven the prices up,? Mr Burns said.
